It has been known for a long time that a lot of Christians who are members of various Churches belonging to CSI denomination in and around Bangalore have been moving to the periphery on account of expansion of Bangalore in all directions, especially towards Hosur and have been taking up residence in extensions and areas like Electronic City, Bommanahalli, Bommasandra, Hosa Road (Parappana Agrahara), Huskur, Chandapura, Hebbagodi, Jigani, Begur, Anekal Etc. All these people have still to cover long distances to attend Sunday morning services as there is no CSI Kannada Church in any of these localities. The nearest Church, perhaps is Koramangala Church on the one side and Shanthi Church on the other, both being at a distance of 10 to 15 Kms from all these centres. For want of any other alternative all CSI members residing in these far-off places have been attending service at one or other of the City CSI Churches where they were members earlier. This had caused a lot of inconvenience to all these members because of the need to travel long distances apart from the unnecessary cost attached to such travels. Moreover, they and their children were finding it difficult to engage in all activities of the church like Youth Fellowship, Women Fellowship, Sunday school, Choir and other activities connected with festivities.
A need had been felt to explore the possibilities of starting a branch of CSI in any of the aforementioned places to cater to the need of the CSI members residing in these far-flung places. This matter when brought to the notice of Rev. William Jones then Director of our Diocesan Church Extension Committee had asked one Sri E. Oswald Amanna a Senior member of CSI Ascension Church (now residing in Hebbagodi) who had a long experience of Church leadership to find out possibility of gathering all such Christians residing in the areas mentioned above and to have services here only and to explore the possibilities of starting a church under the CSI banner. Two youngsters viz Sri William Christapal a member of CSI Shanthi Church and Sri C.B.Anandararaja of CSI Covenant Church Koramangala were requested to assist Sri. E.O.Amanna. They flung into action immediately and were able to meet 17 Christian families with in short span of one week and convinced them to join together for worship. An inaugural service was conducted on 11th March at 2013 Shanthi Nikethan Convention hall Bommasandra where in about attended 65 people including leaders from various Churches with Rev Raju who was then the Presbyter Incharge of CSI Covenant Church Koramangala conducted the a grandly arranged inaugural Service on 11th March 2013. The service was well attended by members of Koramangala Church, Shanthi Church, Hudson Church. St Andrews Church, CSI Ascension Church Sadashivanagar, Kathriguppa Church, and Kengeri Church, Bharathnagar Church and many others and they encouraged the committee and assured of their help in building a Church in this area.
